Right now, everyone buying these cards are doing so "hoping" a game gets the new technology implemented. I am itching to upgrade my Ti, but right now there isnt a compelling argument to do so. Ray tracing isn't some new technique Nvidia just made up, it's been sought after for decades in real time rendering. AMD recently gave presentations on real-time RT, though for more professional uses and not fast enough for gaming.
The fact that Nvidia was the first to market with a viable RT technique that is fast enough to use for games is amazing, and it isn't going to just 'go away'.
